Training Target
  • Understanding of signalling in the GSM network - focused on BSS
  • Students learn to analyse signalling and use it for solving problems
Who Should Attend
  • Persons who need to understand the functionality of the BSS portion of the GSM network in more detail.
Prerequisites
  • Basic understanding of GSM network functionality (e.g. Course "GSM - network Principles, Signalling and Scenarios" from our course list)
Content
  • Signalling as a control mechanism for the network
  • Basic principles of signalling and protocol structure
  • Information to be exchanged on particular interfaces
  • Protocols used in the GSM network - tasks of the protocols, messages, parameters and procedures
  • Detail description of GSM network scenarios depicted on prepared poster
  • Complete signalling procedures explained on real signalling traces (Mobile Originating / Terminating Call, Mobile Originating / Terminating SMS, Location Update)
  • Real signalling traces - how to solve problems using signalling analysis
